Mountain View woman accused of stealing $62,000 from Valley Learning Center

LYMAN (WNE) — A Mountain View woman has been charged with a felony count of theft after allegedly embezzling more than $62,000 from the Valley Learning Center.
Jamie Allyn, 39, was employed as the VLC office manager in Mountain View from August 2022 until February 2025, when law enforcement was first notified by the educational outreach center of concerns of fraudulent credit card activity.
A subsequent investigation allegedly discovered that approximately $42,664 was used by the defendant to pay various utility and insurance payments and other living expenses.
Some of those charges also appear to have funded two vacations taken by Allyn, according to court documents.
Another $19,659 was used to make Amazon purchases using the VLC credit card.
The allegedly misappropriated funds reportedly came from property taxes, the mill levy, Uinta County School District #4 and ongoing grant-funding efforts. In particular, the funds were allocated for Mountain View High School students to take Western Wyoming Community College classes and for residents of all ages to access GED coursework and testing.
Allyn has pleaded not guilty to the charge. She is currently scheduled for a jury trial in January 2026. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years behind bars and up to $10,000 in fines.
