COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 1, 2025) – Freshman jumper and sprinter Taliah Morris has won the Mountain West Women’s Freshman of the Week award, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Last weekend, Morris finished the Jack Christiansen Invitational with a first-place finish in the long jump. Her mark of 20’ 5 3/4" (6.24 meters) broke her previous personal best by over a foot. This mark also moved her to No. 5 in outdoor program history and tied for No. 16 in the country this season.

This is just Wyoming’s second outdoor Freshman of the Week honor since it began being awarded in 2022. The last Cowgirl to win the award was Salma Elbadra on April 30, 2024. This is also only the fifth Mountain West Freshman of the Week winner, man or woman, in Wyoming indoor and outdoor track and field history.

Morris and the rest of Wyoming will split this weekend between the Stanford Invite on Friday in Palo Alto, Calif., and the Jerry Quiller Classic on Friday and Saturday in Boulder, Colo.
