Micheal Everett Hansen, age 82, passed at his home on Sept. 12, 2024, from cancer.

Mike was born Nov. 19, 1941, in Dupree, South Dakota, to Stanley and Elaine (Van Cleave) Hansen. Mike attended school in Faith, South Dakota.

Mike served honorably in the United States Army and was stationed in France.

Mike married Billie Jean Petersen on Feb. 10,1967, and to that union two sons were born. The couple lived and worked in the Dupree area until 1975 when they moved to Newcastle, Wyoming. In Newcastle, they made their home for the next 49 years. Mike spent his lifetime behind the wheel of a truck.

Mike enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing with his sons, and he cherished spending time with his grandkids.

Mike is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Hansen of Newcastle; his two sons, Micheal Shane (Dena) Hansen of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Chad Everett Hansen of Newcastle; four grandchildren, Cheyenne (Hank) Jones of Gillette, Wyoming, Mikena Hansen of Denver, Colorado, Mikayh Hansen of Cheyenne, and Cimaron Hansen of Newcastle; as well as four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his three sisters, Alta Leinen of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Linda (Jimmy) Collins of Faith, and Connie Burditt of Sturgis, South Dakota.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Earl Hansen, and Wade Hansen and numerous other family members.

A remembrance will be held on Sept. 21 at 11  o’clock in the morning at the Michael’s Room of Weston County Senior Services center in Newcastle. Burial will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date.
