He leads the Pokes in scoring this season

LARAMIE, Wyo. (NOV. 10, 2025) – Wyoming freshman guard Nasir β€œNaz” Meyer was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday. He led the Cowboys to a pair of wins to open the 2025-26 season.

A native of Los Angeles, Calif., Meyer averaged 18.5 points per game and added 5.5 rebounds. He also added three assists per contest and shot 60 percent from both the field and from behind the arc. He knocked down three triples per game.

Meyer recorded 19 points in his first collegiate contest against Northern State. It was the most in a season opener by a freshman since Marcus Williams recorded 20 points against Mississippi Valley State in 2020 making it the second most by a Cowboy freshman in the MW era of Wyoming basketball. He added 18 points against Cal State Fullerton with 13 points coming in the second half.

He helped lead the Cowboys to 90 or more points in the first two games of the season for the first time since doing so during the 1990-91 campaign.
