LARAMIE, Wyoming (3/9/25) – The University of Wyoming men’s golf team is back in action at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational. The tournament takes place at the San Diego Country Club from Monday-Tuesday.
“I want to go to San Deigo and play well and be competitive,” head coach Joe Jensen said. “What I did this week was I gave them a smidge of an uptick. I told them, ‘Let’s keep our focus and let’s learn that we have to be better.’ I want to continue to put ourselves in competitive situations where we feel pressure and expectation.”
The course is a par 72 that stretches 7,033 yards. Players will complete 36 holes on Monday, beginning at 8:30 a.m., and the final 18 on Tuesday, starting at 9 a.m.
It’s a 16-team field. That list of schools is comprised of BYU, San Deigo State, Notre Dame, Colorado, San Diego, Colorado State, New Mexico, LMU, Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s, Fresno State, Cal Poly, UC Davis, UC San Diego, Hawaii and Wyoming.
The Pokes are fresh off their own tournament, the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. They took sixth as a team.
It marked the Cowboys second tournament of the spring season. They also competed at the Arizona N.I.T., placing eighth.
In total, Wyoming has teed it up seven times in 2024-25. The Pokes boast four top-half finishes with a high-water mark of fourth at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational in the fall.
Following the trip to San Diego, Wyoming returns to Arizona. The Cowboys compete in the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate from March 17-18.
