Brody Leid Holds a Share of the Individual Lead after a 64 (-8)

MARICOPA, Arizona (5/22/26) – The University of Wyoming men’s golf team completed Round 1 of the 2026 National Golf Invitational on Friday. The Pokes are seventh as a team following a 285 (-3), and Brody Leid holds a share of the individual lead after a 64 (-8) in a tournament being played at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.

“There were some nerves going into today,” head coach Joe Jensen. “We needed to get this one under our belt. I don’t think we are completely in rhythm. But I can’t say enough about this experience. This is great for the guys.”

Missouri leads at 270 (-18), while Grand Canyon is a close second at 271 (-17). Grand Canyon’s Gavin O’Neill is tied with Leid for the spot atop the individual leaderboard.

Leid’s 64 is tied for the fourth-best round ever in program history. It was comprised of seven birdies, an eagle and just one bogey.

“He’s just doing a lot of good things,” Jensen said. “He’s just steady, and that’s how Brody wants it.”

Brody Knowlton is tied for 28th following a first-round 72 (E). He recorded six birdies, two bogeys and a pair of double bogeys.

Kellen Ball shares 36th place after a Round 1 score of 73 (+1). He registered a birdie and two bogeys.

The second round of the NGI gets underway on Saturday morning.
