TUCSON, Arizona (2/3/25) – The University of Wyoming men's golf team got back into the swing of things at the Arizona N.I.T. on Monday. The field didn't complete all 36 holes scheduled for Day 1 at Omni Tucson National Resort. The Cowboys played anywhere from 33-34 holes and sit in 10th at 2-under.
"I'm very pleased with the work, with the effort, and I'm frankly pleased with the ball striking," head coach Joe Jensen said. "But it's just Day 1 of the spring. I'm not saying it was great. I would call it good, solid. Certainly, there's an opportunity to improve, and I feel like we have a chance to do that because there's lot of good things going on.”
Kristof Panke paced the Pokes, as he's tied for 28th. He's 2-under following an opening-round 70 (-2) that featured a quartet of birdies. Panke played 16 holes in Round 2 and is even-par, carding another four birdies.
Damon Vilkauskas owns a share of 35th place at 1-under. He boasted a very clean first-round 70 (E) that had two birdies. Vilkauskas is 1-over through 15 holes in Round 2 with a birdie and an eagle.
Patrick Azevedo is tied for 41st at even-par. He carded an opening-round 71 (1-under) that saw a trio of birdies and he's 1-over through 16 holes of the second round.
Jaren Calkins and Brody Leid round out the Wyoming golfers. They're both tied for 57th at 3-over.
Calkins recorded an opening-round 74 (+2) that had a pair of birdies. He's 1-over in Round 2 having completed 16 holes.
