Man charged with second-degree murder for allegedly killing sister Monday night

GILLETTE (WNE) — The Gillette Police Department released the identity of the man who allegedly shot and killed 33-year-old Haleigh Martinez Monday night.

On Wednesday, 26-year-old Vincent Hackett was charged with one count of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Martiniez, his sister.

Gillette Police responded to a report of multiple gun shots at about 8 p.m. They found Martinez, who had multiple gunshot wounds.

Hackett also was at the home, and he was identified as the shooter and arrested.

EMS took Martinez to the Campbell County Health emergency room, where she died from her injuries. She was pronounced dead at 8:32 p.m. Monday.

Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem said an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday in Rapid City, South Dakota.
