GILLETTE (WNE) — Deputies are searching for 31-year-old Raymond Anguiano after he escaped from custody Sunday night.

Anguiano had been arrested Sunday night for interference and felony possession of a controlled substance, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said.

Deputies originally tried to stop Anguiano after noticing he was biking without a headlamp. Anguiano didn't stop and tried to ride away on his bike, but he ended up crashing.

He then fled on foot, and he was ultimately found hiding under a vehicle in the 800 block of East Ninth Street. Deputies found a syringe with liquid meth on him and arrested him.

Anguiano claimed during his arrest that he had ingested fentanyl. He was taken to the jail, and before he was booked, it was determined that he needed to be checked by a doctor.

After being transported to the emergency room, Anguiano said he needed to use the restroom and ran away. Nursing staff noticed him fleeing on foot on security cameras but were unable to stop him.

Anguiano fled the hospital still in handcuffs, which are valued at $82. Deputies are seeking warrants for his arrest for escape from official detention, drug use, interference, theft and no headlamp.
