Man and dog missing in Wind River Mountain Range since Sept. 4
PINEDALE (WNE) — Jonathan Bailey and his yellow Labrador retriever, Wrigley, are missing somewhere between 1000 Island Lake and Elkhart Trailhead in the Wind River Mountain Range north of Pinedale.
Bailey had with him a black backpack and was wearing a yellow Wyoming baseball hat. Wrigley, the lab, should be wearing a red pack.
Bailey was reported missing at 5:42 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, according to an entry in the Sublette County sheriff’s report. He was supposed to meet at Photographer’s Point but didn’t show, the entry states, noting the caller, Bailey’s wife, and the rest of the party went on to 1000 Island Lake, spent the night, and hiked out on the morning of Sept. 5.
The caller suggested to the dispatcher that Bailey’s phone was possibly dead and provided his last known location.
Jennifer Bailey Baumgartner, who identified herself as Bailey’s sister in a Facebook post, wrote that her brother is in his mid-50s with a light brown/gray beard and a full head of short hair of the same color.
He stands about five feet, 10 inches tall and has a trim, muscular build.
“Jon and Wrigley were last seen by his family around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, and they did not arrive at the agreed-upon campsite,” she said, adding, “He has his pack with sleeping bag, no tent. He has outdoor skills, but we’re all very worried. Any help is greatly appreciated.”
Anyone with information about Bailey or his dog Wrigley should contact the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 307- 367-4378.
