Make the most of summer

By
Preslee Fitzwater — Student Voice

Summer is just around the corner, and more than ever students are ready to toss their pages of notes and leave the school, not looking back until August. In just a couple of days, students will exchange their early mornings for late nights with friends…rather than curling up in bed with a textbook.

Summer bucket lists are in the making, and they consist of everything from sleeping in and lake days, to big world traveling trips.

But what really makes the ultimate summer bucket list memorable? For the class of 2026, the summer bucket list is packed, as they embark on their last summer of high school.
For other students, it is just another summer vacay, packed with whatever they please.

So what is it that makes summer vacation memorable? Is it world traveling or just a couple of memories full of happiness? Summer bucket lists do not have to include big expensive trips or costly adventures; what makes a true summer bucket list memorable is the happiness awaiting.

What really matters in summer is maintaining dopamine levels, or one’s happiness in simpler terms. For most, dopamine is a given that results from the break itself. For others, dopamine levels rise when surrounded by your best friends at the lake. Whatever it is this summer, make sure to take that adventure, do something new and be grateful for the smile on your face afterward.

Whether a student or an adult, a teacher or a nurse, use summer vacation not as something that costs you a great deal of time and money, but something that produces true happiness and gratitude. Ask yourself what really matters this summer and make the ultimate summer bucket list!
