Losing coal mine jobs
Losing coal mine jobs
Dear Editor,
We have been losing coal mine jobs. We have other mineral wealth to be extracted - uranium. I believe that is the basic fuel used by USN submarines. So, it seems that all the technology exists for our economic salvation. We can mine our uranium, refine it as necessary, then use it as fuel for the generation of electricity using existing technology. The electricity can be sold and transported on already existing high voltage lines. If this scheme can be made to work it would not only solve our state’s cash flow problem but also contribute to ameliorating our global warming problem. Yes, there are indeed a lot of “if’s” in this scheme. The only alternative is what? A prairie dog hunt?
