Longmire Days to return to Buffalo
BUFFALO (WNE) — Longmire Days will be back again this year, with some of its classic events and favorite show actors returning to Buffalo.
Longmire Foundation Executive Director Jennifer McCormick said show actors Robert Taylor (Walt Longmire), Louanne Stephens (Ruby), A. Martinez (Jacob Nighthorse) and John Bishop (Bob Barnes) will be attending, along with Longmire book series author Craig Johnson. Longmire is a crime book series with its setting loosely based on Johnson County, which inspired a hit television series of the same name. Tickets for Longmire Days will go on sale this week for all of the events packed into July 16-19.
Among the most popular returning events are the autograph sessions, horseback ride at Paradise Guest Ranch and wrap party, which puts a bow on the entire weekend.
Nancy Tabb is also doing two history talks at the Johnson County Library: “When Johnson County Had A Rustling Problem” and “Early History of Powder River Country.”
Tabb’s talks are free, but because of their popularity, reservations are required, McCormick said.
Other free events include the Black Hills Raptor demonstrations in Washington Park on July 17 and the parade and street dance on July 18.
One of the new features this year is a Native American cultural history day at the Johnson County Fairgrounds on July 16. People can buy a $30 day pass or a $15 half-day pass to see a teepee raising, an Indian relay race, multiple demonstrations from traditional beadwork to parade regalia and more, McCormick said.
The Longmire Foundation uses part of its proceeds every year to support one national and one local charity. While the foundation has not selected a national charity yet this year, it has decided to donate some of its proceeds to the Buffalo Senior Center’s meal program.
