LEWIS FRANKLIN FAWCETT

Sept. 14, 1939–April 18, 2025
Lewis Franklin Fawcett was born in Newcastle, Wyoming, to Crawford and Alice Fawcett on Sept. 14, 1939, as their fifth-born child, of a family of 10.
Lewis went on to meet the love of his
life, MaryJo Fordyce, when he came to her family’s ranch to antelope hunt. They were married Feb. 29, 1964, and they celebrated 61 years of marriage.
After they married, they moved around Montana working as ranch hands until they settled down in Basin, Wyoming. There they raised their children, Tina and Lee Fawcett. He worked as a State of Wyoming meat inspector for 25 years. He also drove the wrestling bus, worked for Weed and Pest and was a ditch rider in the early years of his retirement.
When Lewis wasn’t working, you could find him and his beautiful wife MaryJo Fawcett, out tearing it up on the dance floor, hunting, fishing and following many family members supporting them in any manner they could.
Lewis hopped on his favorite horse and made the ride to heaven on April 18, 2025.
He is preceded in death by his son, Lee Lewis Fawcett; and siblings, Tommy Fawcett, Doris Hailey, Lois Hurley, Jean Day, Joan Laslie, Robert Fawcett, and
Judy Hampton.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, MaryJo Fawcett; siblings, Jerry (Karol) Fawcett, and Dorothy Pitts; daughter, Tina (Troy) Laird; grandchildren, DJ Laird, Lee Brown, and Darci Sheinberg; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the Atwood Family Funeral Chapel in Basin. Private family burial will take place at the Mount
View Cemetery in Basin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atwood Family Funeral Directors.
