Laramie’s Snowy Range Rotating Sculpture Program finalizes new sculpture installation
LARAMIE – Art takes a spotlight once again in Laramie as the Laramie Public Art Coalition recently completed the installation for the second rotation of the Snowy Range Rotating Sculpture Program, aiming to transform a thoroughfare viaduct and gateway connecting the east and west sides of the city, into a canvas for creativity.
Beginning in August and continuing through the summer of 2027, the community-selected pieces will temporarily adorn the two sculpture pads located at the intersection of West Clark Street and Snowy Range Road and the northwest corner at the intersection of North 3rd Street and Snowy Range Road.
The sculpture “Balance of Power” has taken residence at North 3rd Street and Snowy Range Road. It is one out of a collection of four made by Pati Stajcar, who was originally from southeastern Pennsylvania and now lives in Colorado.
“Balance of Power is two eagles either in a mating display, a territorial dispute or symbolic of political branches tussling, which in their balancing power,” Stajcar told the Laramie Boomerang. “If you’ve ever seen this happening in the wild, it’s just an amazing sight. They’ll go as high as they can in flight, and they’ll grasp talons before they begin spinning, and they’ll come almost all the way to the ground before breaking up.”
