Keeping Newcastle beautiful
Keeping Newcastle beautiful
To the Editor,
A public note of appreciation is in order for all those who have been involved this year in designing, planting and maintaining the ornamental planters and flower beds around Newcastle, which have been at their brilliant and glorious best for the last 10 weeks or so.
Apparently, most of the credit should go to the dedicated and hard working members of our two local garden clubs — and our city employees also deserve recognition for keeping the watering systems to these planters functioning and in good repair.
Other volunteers who have cultivated the colorful blossoms around our public library and on our local bank properties should also be thanked for the times and industry they have contributed to make Newcastle a more attractive and inviting place
to live.
They would probably all say that it is a labor of love, but it is a labor more-the-less. We are fortunate to have people like this in our town who willingly donate their sweat and toil in order to brighten the local landscape every growing reason. Their diligent efforts have been a blessing and a benefit to all of us in this area.
For a better world …
