KAREN F. MORRIS WHITNEY

March 5, 1942–Jan. 28, 2025

A service to honor Karen Morris Whitney, 82, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. at Weston County Senior Citizen Center in Newcastle; a time to visit with family and friends will follow at the senior center. Cremation has taken place, and the cremains will be buried in the Lusk Cemetery under the direction of Pier Funeral Home.

Karen passed away peacefully at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Casper, Wyoming, on Jan. 28, 2025.

Karen Francis was born to Harold and Sylvia (Peterson) Hammell. She graduated from the Cheyenne River School and Edgemont High School in 1960.

In 1962, she married Richard Morris. They had two children, Fern and Cody. She was a mother and housewife, and later worked at the First State Bank of Newcastle. Then she moved to Casper and worked for B & T Fabrication.

In 2002, she married Dee Whitney. They enjoyed traveling together.

Karen is preceded in death by her first husband, Dick Morris, and one brother-in-law, Les Marty.

Karen is survived by her husband, Dee Whitney; children, Fern (Larry) Morris and Cody (Jeanette); siblings, Mickey (Joy) Hammell, Shirley Marty, and Bonnie (Mike) Hammell; grandsons, Tye (Angie) and Brandon (Deryn); one great-granddaughter, Reyna; and many nieces and nephews.

Pier Funeral Home in Lusk, Wyoming, is in charge of arrangements.
