Jury convicts Glenrock’s Beedy of exploitation of vulnerable adult

DOUGLAS (WNE) — A Converse County jury found a Glenrock woman guilty of exploitation of a vulnerable adult after a two-day trial last week.
Goldie Beedy, born in 1970, could face up to 10 years in prison after a jury found her guilty of exploiting Harold J. Anderson, a Glenrock man diagnosed with dementia.
Beedy was initially arrested in the summer of 2024 after refusing to sign the title to Anderson’s vehicle and trailer house back into his name after it had been transferred to herself.
According to the police affidavit filed with the original charges, the Glenrock Police Department conducted an investigation beforehand, during which they learned Beedy and Anderson had known each other for about two and a half years.
Though Anderson had signed the titles over to Beedy, the affidavit states he didn’t seem to have a coherent understanding of the situation.
“Harold recognized he signed the titles over to (Beedy) but did not seem to understand he no longer owned them,” the investigators wrote.
The affidavit also states that Anderson was deemed unfit to make decisions regarding his medical care the day before he signed the titles over to Beedy.
“It should be noted,” the affidavit states, “there is not a power of attorney or guardianship currently in place for (Anderson).”
Though Beedy had partially filled out a petition for Anderson’s guardianship when the GPD began its investigation, officers told her not to continue.
But the affidavit states she then filed this paperwork in Natrona County without notifying law enforcement she had done so. Beedy’s sentencing trial is expected to take place in state district court in about 90 days after a presentence investigation is completed.
