Jury acquits Martin of child abuse charge

Megan Martin, a former employee of the Weston County Children’s Center, was acquitted of the crime of aggravated child abuse on April 7 after a lengthy jury trial, according to verdict documents from the 6th Judicial District Court.
As previously reported, Martin was charged with felony aggravated child abuse related to an incident at the local day care center on Nov. 16, 2021. She was charged with the crime on April 6, 2023, with documents claiming she inflicted serious injuries on a child under her care at the children’s center.
County Attorney Michael Stulken confirmed that the Weston County jury found Martin not guilty of the charge after a six-day trial.
