July 30, 2020 CLARIFICATION

In the July 23, 2020, edition of the News Letter Journal, in the cutlines for “Pancake Breakfast” on page 7, it was reported that the Newcastle Volunteer Fire Department put on the Pancake Breakfast in the First State Bank parking lot on July 18. The event was actually sponsored by First State Bank, according to FSB President Darwin Rabenberg, with volunteers from both the fire department and the bank supplying labor. The bank also donated $500, along with the public donations of $800, with all proceeds going to the fire department. The bank supplied all the food, according to Joanna Akers, which came from Woody’s Food Center, with Woody’s donating door prizes. First State Bank officials said they provide this annual event for the community because they feel it is important — especially this year — to give the community a venue for some fun and socializing while supporting the local volunteer fire department.
