For the second time in three months the Wyoming Judicial Nominating Commission is seeking qualified individuals to fill a judge’s seat on the Sixth Judicial District Court bench. Rumpke’s resignation will become effective on March 2, according to a Nov. 16 press release.
Rumpke, who was appointed by Gov. Matt Mead in May 2013, was later retained by voters in 2014 and again in 2020. Gov. Mark Gordon recently appointed James Michael Causey to replace John R. Perry to the court.
Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice Kate M. Fox, who acts as the chairman of the Judicial Nominating Commission, said in the press release that the commission “will accept expressions of interest from qualified people.” To be considered a qualified individual, persons must be learned in the law, at least 28 years of age, a citizen of the United States and a resident of Wyoming for at least the past two years.
Those interested in filling the vacancy have until Dec. 7 to submit their expression of interest.
“The expression of interest form can be obtained from the Supreme Court’s website, www.courts.state.wy.us/Administration/Careers,” the release says. “The completed form must be received in the office of Chief Justice Fox no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. Please do not submit letters of recommendation, as the commission will not consider them, but will instead review documents specifically required by the expression of interest.”
The commission will choose three names to forward to Gov. Mark Gordon, who will then appoint the new judge.
