Judge candidates announced

The three candidates for the newest Sixth Judicial District judge position were announced by Chief Justice Kate M. Fox on May 13, according to a related news release.

The nominees, reviewed and chosen by the Judicial Nominating Committee, are Alison Ochs Gee, Michael J. McGrady and Ronald E. Wirthwein Jr.. The names will be submitted to Gov. Mark Gordon for consideration.

The vacant position, as previously reported by the News Letter Journal, is the result of a fourth judge for the district being authorized and funded by the 2024 Wyoming Legislature. Senate File 0053 appropriated over $1 million for the funding and creation of the fourth judge seat. Fox announced the vacancy on March 18.

According to the release, Gordon has 30 days to appoint one of the three nominees to serve as the new district court judge.
