JOSHUA RAY DEMPSEY
JOSHUA RAY DEMPSEY: Dec. 31, 1982–March 22, 2026
Joshua Ray Dempsey, of Newcastle, Wyoming, passed away on March 22, 2026, at the age of 43.
Josh was born on Dec. 31, 1982, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and later attended Central High School in Rapid City, South Dakota. Throughout school, he was a class clown who enjoyed theater and performing comedy skits with his friends.
Throughout his life, Josh was known for his humor, his love of life, and his genuine heart. He loved the San Francisco 49ers, music, movies, and making people laugh. His biggest love was for his dogs, “The Dude” and Jaxson, who were always by his side.
Often described as the most lovable “unlovable” guy you’d ever meet, Josh had a big personality and will be remembered as a great friend and devoted brother and son.
Although Josh held a variety of positions throughout the years, he truly shined as a karaoke disc jockey, where his personality came alive and his love of music brought joy to many. His legendary performances of Vanilla Ice’s “Ice, Ice, Baby” will long be remembered, as well as being the original co-host known as “Irish Carwreck” on the podcast 6 in 60.
Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delven and Diane Brown; his stepfather, Dale Dempsey; cousins, Matthew Cook and Jami Brown; and his uncle and aunt, Kelly Brown and Sheila Brown.
He is survived by his mother, Holly Dempsey of Newcastle, Wyoming; his father, Bryan (Deb) Weidenbach of Osage, Wyoming; brothers, Trevor Brown of San Marcos, Texas, Chad (Jackie) Dempsey of San Diego, California, and Cody (Krystal) Loomis of Greeley, Colorado; and his sister, Justine Dallenbach of Newcastle; along with extended family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 25, at 1 p.m. at the VFW, 2990 W. Main Street, Newcastle, WY 82701.
