CUSTER, SD – Jewel Cave National Monument will be changing its hours of operation for the off-season. Beginning Sunday, December 1st the visitor center will be closed Sundays and plan to be open Mondays-Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The visitor center is currently operating inside the Park Store, operated by park partner, Black Hills Parks and Forests Association. This is due to a total replacement of the visitor center HVAC system which is taking place throughout the visitor center, including where the usual information desk and exhibits are located.

While the monument plans to offer Scenic and Discovery Tours when the visitor center is open, due to the HVAC system replacement, reservations will be limited. It is recommended to call 605-673-8300 or email jeca_information@nps.gov for the most up-to-date information on cave tours.

Inclement weather during the off-season may close the visitor center and cancel cave tours. Go to www.nps.gov/jeca to stay up to date on park operations. You can also visit the Jewel Cave Facebook and Instagram pages for more park news.
