Jesus loves me, this I know

By
Dean Butler

Many of us grew up singing the familiar children’s song, “Jesus Loves Me.” It’s simple, yet profound. The lyrics remind us of a truth that has the power to shape our lives: “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells
me so.”

At the heart of Christianity is the love of Jesus. He loved us so much that He gave His life for us. In John 15:13, Jesus says, “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”

His love, and the salvation He offers, is not based on anything we’ve done or could ever do. It’s a love that is freely given, unchanging, and
everlasting.

We don’t have to guess or wonder if Jesus loves us. The Bible is full of His promises and actions that demonstrate His love for us. In Romans 5:8, it says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” This is the ultimate proof of His love — the sacrifice He made on the cross for our salvation.

Jesus’ love is more than just a feeling or a song, it’s something that calls for a response from us.

In John 14:15, Jesus says, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” Our love for Him is shown through our obedience to His Word and through the way we live our lives, loving others as He has loved us.

So, when you sing the words, “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so,” remember that it’s not just a children’s song — it’s a truth that is meant to transform our hearts. Jesus’ love is the foundation of our faith, and the Bible is the perfect reminder of this love every day.
