Jesus Did So Much More Than We Know

Jesus did far more than we know. Discover the untold truths of His life and teachings in this post.
When people read the Gospels, they sometimes believe they are reading the complete life story of Jesus. But the Bible tells us something different. What we see in the Gospels is only a glimpse — just enough for us to believe and be saved.
The apostle John ends his book with these powerful words:
“But there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written.” (John 21:25)
What an incredible thought. All the miracles, teachings, kindnesses, and wonders He did — most of them are not even recorded. We only have a small window into the life of Christ on earth.
John also wrote earlier:
“Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that by believing you may have life in His name.” (John 20:30-31)
God carefully chose which signs and moments to record. Everything we need to know for salvation and faith is in the Bible. But Jesus’ greatness cannot be contained in any book. His love, power, and wisdom stretch far beyond anything we can imagine.
The Gospel of Luke reminds us of this, too. Luke tells us that he investigated everything carefully to write an orderly account so that we would know the truth:
“Since many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us... it seemed fitting to me as well... to write it out for you in an orderly sequence... so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.” (Luke 1:1-4)
It is clear — the Gospels are a true and faithful record, but not a complete record. They show us the exact truth we need, but there is so much more to Jesus that we have not yet seen.
Mark 13:23 adds another layer to this idea. Jesus warns His disciples about the future, saying:
“But beware; I have told you everything in advance.” (Mark 13:23)
This is important. Just as John reminds us that there is much more to Jesus’ life than we know, Jesus also tells us that He has given us everything we need to prepare for what’s coming. His words are a warning, a promise, and an assurance that we can trust Him fully. What He has revealed to us is enough for us to understand and be ready.
That should humble us — and excite us. It reminds us that Jesus is far greater than we could ever fully understand. It keeps us seeking Him, reading His Word, and longing for the day we will see Him face to face and know Him fully.
One day in Heaven, we may hear all the stories that were never written down. Until then, we hold on to the truth we have been given — and trust that it is enough to lead us home.
