“For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)

The Bible is not just history. It is not a collection of old stories from another time. It was written for your instruction.

What God said then still speaks now. What He did then still matters now. The same truth that carried them is the truth that carries you.

Notice what it produces. Perseverance. Encouragement. Hope.

Perseverance means you keep going when everything in you wants to stop. Encouragement means you are strengthened when you feel weak. Hope means you are not looking at your circumstances as the final word.

And where does that come from? The Scriptures.

If you neglect the Word, you cut yourself off from the very thing God gave to sustain you. But if you stay in it, read it, think on it, and believe it, something happens. You begin to endure. You begin to stand. You begin to see beyond what is right in front of you.

God did not give His Word just to inform you. He gave it to carry you.

The question is not whether it works.

The question is whether you will stay in it long enough to let it.
