ILENE WHITNEY

Memorial service for Ilene Whitney will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, at Meridian Mortuary (formerly Worden Funeral Directors) with Pastor Sharee Johnson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle, Wyo.
Ilene F. Whitney, age 90, of Newcastle, passed away March 15, 2019, at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, Wyo., of natural causes. 
She was born on Nov. 15, 1928, in Newcastle to Ava Pearl (Furman) and James Leslie Finn. She grew up in Newcastle, graduating from Newcastle High School in 1947. Ilene married Orville Whitney on Dec. 22, 1952; the couple raised four sons. Ilene drove school bus for six years, helped with the ranch work, but most importantly she kept the household going.
Ilene was an active member of Gateway Rebekah Lodge No. 37 and a member of Newcastle Oddfellow Lodge No. 20. She loved to do needlepoint, making numerous needlepoint projects for family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with friends and playing cards. She loved her grandchildren and her family. She also loved going to dances with her brother, Ike, and listening to her dad, brother, Virgil, and sister, Ethel, play the fiddle.
Ilene is survived by her sons, Leslie (DeAnn), LeRoy (Bonnie), and Clinton (Patty), all of Newcastle; daughter-in-law, Deb Whitney of Newcastle; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Joy Dixon and Dorothy Walker Brown; along with many other friends. 
She is preceded in death by her husband, Orville; son, David; parents; brothers, Virgil and Ike; and sister, Ethel.
