If You Continue in My Word

What does it mean to truly continue in God’s Word? This post explores how Scripture confirms your salvation, your forgiveness, and God’s hand in every part of your life.
John 8:31 says, "So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, 'If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples.'"
That word "continue" means more than just reading the Bible every now and then. It means staying with it. Holding to the truth, even when life shakes you up. Even when your heart is full of questions. God uses His Word to confirm what’s already true in our hearts.
The Bible confirms our salvation
Every believer has doubts now and then. “Did God really save me when I asked Him to?” When we mess up, or fall into sin, it’s easy to wonder. But His Word keeps bringing us back.
John 1:12 says, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."
Romans 10:9 says, "That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
That’s God’s Word, not our feelings. If you’ve asked Him to save you, and you keep returning to Him—don’t ignore that pull. That’s the Spirit reminding you who you belong to.
The Bible confirms the hand of God in all of life’s ups and downs
Life can hit hard. Disappointment, heartbreak, silence. Sometimes God feels distant. That’s when the enemy tries to pull us away. But if you fight through that pull, and find yourself back in prayer, back in His Word—pay attention. That’s not weakness. That’s evidence.
Genesis 50:20 says, "As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to keep many people alive."
Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Even the hard parts of your story are being used for something greater. The Word confirms it. He hasn’t forgotten you.
The Bible confirms our forgiveness when we sin
There are times we ask, “Did God really forgive that sin?” We still feel the weight. We still carry guilt. But God’s Word says something else.
1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Psalm 103:12 says, "As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our wrongdoings from us."
We don’t always feel forgiven. But God’s Word says we are. That’s why we hold to it.
If you continue in His Word, it will confirm what the enemy wants you to question: your salvation, your forgiveness, and God's presence in your life.
Don’t wait for a feeling. Trust the truth. Jesus said in John 8:32, "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." Continue in the Word. That’s where the evidence is.
