To truly seek God means to pursue Him with everything we have, to desire His presence, and to align our hearts with His will. It is not a casual effort or something we do only when it is convenient; it is an active, intentional, and continual pursuit. The depth of this call can be seen in the words of Jeremiah 29:13: "And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart." Seeking God requires our whole being—our mind, our emotions, and our will.

Jesus Himself emphasized the importance of seeking God when He said in Matthew 6:33, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." To seek God’s kingdom means to prioritize His rule and His purposes above our own desires. It is to live in a way that reflects God’s values and brings glory to His name. Seeking His righteousness means striving to live a holy life, walking in obedience to His Word and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us from the inside out.

Seeking God is not a passive endeavor. It requires persistence and faith. Jesus said in Luke 11:9-10, "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, it will be opened." This seeking involves a heart that refuses to give up, a heart that believes in the promises of God and trusts that He will reveal Himself to those who diligently pursue Him.

The psalmist gives us an example of this kind of seeking in Psalm 63:1, where he writes, "God, You are my God; I shall be watching for You; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, in a dry and exhausted land where there is no water." This is not the cry of someone seeking God casually; it is the cry of a soul that longs for God as one longs for water in a desert. This kind of seeking comes from recognizing our desperate need for Him and knowing that He alone can satisfy the deepest longings of our hearts.

As we seek God with all our heart, we begin to experience the joy and peace that come from His presence. Psalm 16:11 reminds us, "You will make known to me the way of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever." Seeking God leads us to a deeper relationship with Him, where we find fulfillment, purpose, and the assurance of His love.

Ultimately, seeking God is not about what we can get from Him but about knowing Him more deeply. Paul expressed this desire in Philippians 3:10, saying, "that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death." To seek God is to desire intimacy with Him, to walk closely with Him, and to grow in our understanding of His character and His ways.

The call to seek God is not a one-time decision but a lifelong journey. Hebrews 11:6 tells us, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him." God promises to reward those who diligently seek Him, not with material things, but with the treasure of His presence and the joy of knowing Him.

May we all seek God with all our heart, soul, and mind, not just with words but with our actions and our lives. He is worthy of our pursuit, and in Him, we will find everything we truly need.
