Holtzen and White Earn Spots to the NCAA Championships, Extend School Records on Day Three of the West First Round

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (May 30, 2025) – Juniors Ryker Holtzen and Jacob White earned automatic qualifying spots to the NCAA Track and Field Championships on the third day of the West First Round, Friday.
Wyoming’s day began in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with two Cowboys fighting for a spot in TrackTown USA. In heat one, Holtzen finished third for an automatic qualifying spot with a personal-best time of 8:34.95. With the eighth fastest time overall, Holtzen finished ahead of the previous facility record and extended his school record.
Senior Albert Steiner wrapped his Cowboy career with a 29th overall finish in the steeplechase. In heat two, he crossed the line 10th with a time of 9:00.65.
White joined the soirée in the 5,000 meters and punched his ticket to Eugene, Ore., with Holtzen. After battling for position all race long, he found himself in the top group coming into the final lap. After 12.5 laps, he finished fourth in a blazing-fast first heat at 13:27.32. This time extended White’s school record by 10 seconds and was faster than the previous facility record.
