Hines takes over dry cleaning again

Rosemary Hines of Graphic Designs has been in the dry-cleaning business for over three decades, and after taking a small break from the business, she is back at it again at 123 W. Main St. in Newcastle
Hines’ family bought the dry-cleaning store in 1986. She said the economy was doing poorly at the time, so this business opportunity provided a way for her family to stay in Newcastle.
However, dry cleaning is a physically taxing job, and Hines said she got to the point where she could no longer do it.
“I ran out of steam,” she explained.
So, Hines sold the business to Brenna Crawford on Jan. 15, 2019, but continued her Graphic Designs embroidery and screen printing business in a location down the street.
But a few years later, Crawford was reselling the cleaners, so Hines bought it back because she knew the service was needed in Newcastle, she said. Her daughter Angie Gravos laughed and then said that dry cleaning is “in our veins.”
“The community has been really good to us, so it just seemed like the right thing to do,” Hines said.
As of April 5, Hines resumed offering dry-cleaning services at her Graphic Designs business at 123 W. Main St.
Fortunately for Hines, Crawford had gotten rid of the dry-cleaning machines and instead sent what needed to be cleaned to a company in Gillette. Hines is going to do the same, and because she no longer has to do the physical part of the business, she said, she is able to continue offering the service.
If anyone needs anything dry-cleaned, Hines said, she is committed to keeping the services available.
