CHEYENNE (WNE)— Gov. Mark Gordon has signed two bills mandating people across Wyoming use facilities that align with their assigned gender at birth.

On Monday, Gordon signed House Bill 72, “Protecting privacy in public spaces act,” and Senate File 62, “Sex-designated facilities and public schools,” into law.

HB 72 covers the use of sex-designated restrooms, showers, sleeping quarters and locker room facilities at public facilities. SF 62 requires public school children, pre-kindergarten and up, as well as charter school children, to use restrooms that align with their gender assigned at birth.

SF 62 requires districts to “provide a reasonable accommodation” to any student who does not wish to use a multiple-occupancy restroom or locker room that matches the gender at that student’s birth.
