Matthew 19:26 reminds us that what’s impossible for man is possible with God. Through faith, we trust the One whose power never runs out.

Matthew 19:26 — “And looking at them, Jesus said to them, ‘With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”

When Jesus said these words, it wasn’t in a moment of celebration but of confusion. The disciples had just watched a wealthy young man walk away sorrowful after refusing to give up his riches to follow Christ. Jesus had told them how hard it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven—like a camel passing through the eye of a needle. That shocked them. If someone blessed and respectable couldn’t make it, who could?

That’s when Jesus answered: “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

The heart of that statement is about salvation. No one, no matter how moral or successful, can save themselves. Ephesians 2:8–9 reminds us, “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Human effort reaches its limit quickly—but God’s grace knows no limit.

Still, this truth stretches far beyond salvation. It speaks to every situation where faith meets impossibility. When Abraham was promised a son in his old age, he laughed. Yet God told him, “Is anything too difficult for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14). Centuries later, the angel told Mary almost the same words: “For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37). The same God who opened barren wombs and rolled away stones still makes a way when there is no way.

But notice—Jesus didn’t say everything will be possible for us. He said everything is possible with God. The key is who’s doing the work. Our strength runs out; His never does.

Faith doesn’t deny that something looks impossible. It just refuses to stop there. It says, “God can.” When the disciples thought the mission was hopeless, when Abraham thought time was up, when Mary wondered how it could be—God showed that His power begins where ours ends.
