George W. Egge Jr. passed on Thursday, to join his wife Nancy and son Dean in Heaven.

George Jr. was the son of Wyoming homesteader George Sr. and Lois Egge, born in Douglas, Wyoming, and grew up in Newcastle, Wyoming.

As a young man, he was gifted in so many areas including track, basketball, hunting and fishing.

He had a decorated Air Force career and was a devoted husband and father. One of his greatest joys was being involved with whatever activity his children were in, namely Scouts and sports. His children fondly remember long summers spent camping in the Black Hills.

Always a hard worker, he retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant after 20 years and spent the next part of his career as a custodian for Rapid City schools in Rapid City, South Dakota.

He is survived by his children, Daniel Q. Egge U.S. Marine Corps (retired), David W. Egge U.S. Navy (retired), S. Douglas Egge, M.D., U.S. Army veteran, and Debra A. Winder U.S. Air Force veteran; as well as eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home ,with burial following at Black Hills National Cemetery.
