GENE WARD
–Oct. 21, 2025
After 90 years of successfully avoiding doctors and hospitals, Gene Ward peacefully passed away in Arlington, Texas, on Oct. 21, 2025, following a brief illness.
Gene grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in Stevensville, Newfoundland.
He and his wife, Pat Ward, had impactful teaching careers in Wyoming. At Newcastle High School, Gene provided lift-off for a generation of students moving
on to careers in business
and accounting.
Retirement brought happy years in St. Petersburg, Florida, and then in Arlington, Texas, including cruise adventures and fun with grandchildren.
Gene and Pat celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year, a milestone achieved by only .1% of married couples. Pat remains at Lynnridge Assisted Living in Arlington.
Grateful for his unconditional love and lifelong mentorship are his three children, Deborah (married to Glenn Morris), David (Jenny Ward), and Rebecca (Roland Schmitt III), 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
In memory of Gene today, get a fresh-baked cream-filled maple log, relax in your recliner, and listen to Gene’s favorite Roger Miller song, “You Can’t Roller-skate in a Buffalo Herd.”
And, along life’s journey, when you encounter someone struggling to find their way, if you would offer a kind patient listening ear and wise encouragement, that would honor Gene’s memory.
