RIVERTON (WNE) — An explosion injured one person Thursday at the Contango Oil and Gas production office east of Lysite.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office was called at 11:05 a.m. to 2700 Badwater Road, prompting multiple fire agencies to head to the scene.

The caller reported a natural gas explosion, explaining that the station had caught fire. Officials closed down the area while workers shut down a natural gas pipe, allowing it to flare out, while fire crews were on hand to address any additional fires at the scene.

The injured worker was transported by ambulance and then life flighted by Guardian Flight to a hospital, according to the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office call log.
