A Flood of Content and a Famine of Truth

In a world overflowing with Christian content but starving for real truth, this powerful message calls believers to return to God's Word, seek genuine conviction, and feed their souls with what truly matters.
We are flooded with content.
You canât scroll five seconds without someone preaching, sharing a word, or claiming theyâve heard from God. Thereâs more teaching today than ever beforeâbut not more truth. That might sound strange to say in a world where everyoneâs âsharing the gospel,â but if you listen closely, youâll hear it.
Thereâs a flood of content⊠but a famine of truth.
Content Is Everywhereâbut Are We Listening to God?
Weâre overloaded with information. Itâs constant. Itâs polished. Itâs fast. We can read ten devotionals, watch three short sermons, and scroll through a dozen quotes all before breakfast. But the question is: Is any of it leading us closer to God?
Are we hearing from Himâor just about Him?
Paul saw this coming. He warned that people would be âalways learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.â â 2 Timothy 3:7
Itâs possible to hear a hundred voices a day and still miss the one voice that matters most.
The Famine Has Already Started
God spoke through the prophet Amos and said a day would come when there would be a famine in the landânot a lack of food or waterâbut a famine for hearing the Word of the Lord.
âBehold, days are coming,â declares the Lord God, âWhen I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water,
But rather for hearing the words of the Lord.â â Amos 8:11
Weâve entered that time.
Not because God has gone silent, but because hearts have grown dull. People arenât looking for truthâtheyâre looking for comfort. They want what feels good, not what cuts deep. They want content they can agree with, not conviction that calls them to change.
The Rise of Feel-Good Christianity
Weâve traded depth for convenience.
Truth for inspiration.
Doctrine for personality.
And many can no longer tell the difference.
The Bible warned us again in 2 Timothy 4:3â4: âFor the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, and they will turn their ears away from the truth and will turn aside to myths.â
Sound familiar?
A message can go viral, sound spiritual, even mention Jesusâand still not be rooted in truth. Many are feeding their emotions but starving their souls.
Real Truth Cutsâand Heals
The truth of Godâs Word is not always comfortable.
It convicts. It confronts. It calls for change. It demands surrender.
But itâs also the only thing that sets people free.
âSanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.â â John 17:17
Jesus didnât promise to make us feel goodâHe promised to make us holy. That takes real truth. And real truth doesnât come from a five-second clip or a watered-down message. It comes from slowing down, opening the Bible, and letting the Holy Spirit do surgery on our hearts.
Are You Feeding on Content or Truth? Hereâs the hard question:
Are you feeding on Godâs truthâor just content that makes you feel better?
Thatâs the test.
Because we can read, watch, and listen all day long⊠and still never be changed.
Content is easy. Truth takes surrender.
âLet the word of Christ richly dwell within youâŠâ â Colossians 3:16
That only happens when weâre willing to sit with Scripture.
To chew on it. Wrestle with it. Obey it.
And let it shape the way we live.
Closing Thought
We donât need more content.
We need more truth.
More of Godâs Word. More of the Spiritâs leading. More hunger for whatâs real.
In a world drowning in noise, be the one who quiets your heart and listens for Him.
Because when all the noise fades, only truth will remain.
