A Flood of Content and a Famine of Truth

In a world overflowing with Christian content but starving for real truth, this powerful message calls believers to return to God's Word, seek genuine conviction, and feed their souls with what truly matters.
We are flooded with content.
You can’t scroll five seconds without someone preaching, sharing a word, or claiming they’ve heard from God. There’s more teaching today than ever before—but not more truth. That might sound strange to say in a world where everyone’s “sharing the gospel,” but if you listen closely, you’ll hear it.
There’s a flood of content… but a famine of truth.
Content Is Everywhere—but Are We Listening to God?
We’re overloaded with information. It’s constant. It’s polished. It’s fast. We can read ten devotionals, watch three short sermons, and scroll through a dozen quotes all before breakfast. But the question is: Is any of it leading us closer to God?
Are we hearing from Him—or just about Him?
Paul saw this coming. He warned that people would be “always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” – 2 Timothy 3:7
It’s possible to hear a hundred voices a day and still miss the one voice that matters most.
The Famine Has Already Started
God spoke through the prophet Amos and said a day would come when there would be a famine in the land—not a lack of food or water—but a famine for hearing the Word of the Lord.
“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord God, “When I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water,
But rather for hearing the words of the Lord.” – Amos 8:11
We’ve entered that time.
Not because God has gone silent, but because hearts have grown dull. People aren’t looking for truth—they’re looking for comfort. They want what feels good, not what cuts deep. They want content they can agree with, not conviction that calls them to change.
The Rise of Feel-Good Christianity
We’ve traded depth for convenience.
Truth for inspiration.
Doctrine for personality.
And many can no longer tell the difference.
The Bible warned us again in 2 Timothy 4:3–4: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, and they will turn their ears away from the truth and will turn aside to myths.”
Sound familiar?
A message can go viral, sound spiritual, even mention Jesus—and still not be rooted in truth. Many are feeding their emotions but starving their souls.
Real Truth Cuts—and Heals
The truth of God’s Word is not always comfortable.
It convicts. It confronts. It calls for change. It demands surrender.
But it’s also the only thing that sets people free.
“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.” – John 17:17
Jesus didn’t promise to make us feel good—He promised to make us holy. That takes real truth. And real truth doesn’t come from a five-second clip or a watered-down message. It comes from slowing down, opening the Bible, and letting the Holy Spirit do surgery on our hearts.
Are You Feeding on Content or Truth? Here’s the hard question:
Are you feeding on God’s truth—or just content that makes you feel better?
That’s the test.
Because we can read, watch, and listen all day long… and still never be changed.
Content is easy. Truth takes surrender.
“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you…” – Colossians 3:16
That only happens when we’re willing to sit with Scripture.
To chew on it. Wrestle with it. Obey it.
And let it shape the way we live.
Closing Thought
We don’t need more content.
We need more truth.
More of God’s Word. More of the Spirit’s leading. More hunger for what’s real.
In a world drowning in noise, be the one who quiets your heart and listens for Him.
Because when all the noise fades, only truth will remain.
