A fire at CrossRoads Cantina Tuesday morning was easily contained but garnered the response of Newcastle Volunteer Fire Department, Weston County Fire District, Newcastle Police Department and Newcastle Ambulance Service.
According to Fire Chief Robert Munger, the call for response to the fire came at about 7:30 a.m. and fire crews were able to respond quick enough to contain the fire to a portion of the basement. The department remained on scene until about 10:45 a.m. conducting investigations and assessing the scene.
“We have investigated the cause and think we have determined the cause of the fire but we want to hold off on releasing said cause until insurance has the chance to assess the scene,” Munger said.
Munger noted that the business will likely be closed for some time, until damage can be repaired, but that he could not answer how long that would be.
