Residents interested in serving on the Weston County Museum District or the Weston County Hospital District boards have until the Feb. 23 deadline to submit their applications.

According to Cindy Dysart, museum director, the museum district has three four-year seats up for election. The seats are currently held by Linda Nessul, Shirley Harder and Harriet Birkley. Applications may be picked up at the Anna Miller Museum.

The hospital district also has three four-year seats open, according to executive assistant Denice Pisciotti, currently held by Ann Slagle, Karen Drost and Ben Roberts, along with two two-year seats held by Dottie Sylte and the late William Curly.

Candidates for the hospital board may apply at Weston County Health Services, 1124 Washington Blvd., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Applicants should check in at the front desk, where they will be directed to the administration office to complete the required paperwork.

Museum district candidate applications are available at the Anna Miller Museum, Dysart said.

The application must be notarized, as required by the state of Wyoming. No applications had been received as of Feb. 12, according to Pisciotti.

The special district election will be held May 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Polling locations
for both districts will be at the Upton Community Center, Osage Fire Hall and the Weston County Fairgrounds in Newcastle. The two districts coordinate the election to share costs and provide a single voting location in each community.

Absentee voting begins at the end of March and runs through May 4. Museum district absentee ballots may be obtained at 401 Delaware Ave. or by calling the Anna Miller Museum at 746-4188.

Hospital district absentee ballots may be requested by calling 746-3755 or by visiting Weston County Health Services in person.
