Fertig Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week

Second honor of the season for Fertig

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 3, 2022) – For the second time this season Wyoming freshman Allyson Fertig has been named the Mountain West’s Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week.
Fertig averaged a double-double for the Cowgirls this past week as they opened Mountain West play. Fertig averaged 11 points, 10.5 rebounds and a block per game as UW opened league play with a split on the road.
The Glendo, Wyo., native opened the week’s play with her second career double-double, notching 12 points and a career-best 12 rebounds in Wyoming’s 62-54 victory over San Diego State. Fertig then followed that up with another near-double-double effort, scoring 10 points and pulling down nine boards to go along with a pair of blocks in the loss at UNLV.
In the last four games, Fertig has made her first four career starts and is averaging 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and one block per game. All three of those are second on the squad over that time.
