Fertig Nabs Mountain West Player of the Week Honors

Fourth POTW honor for her career
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 2, 2024) – Wyoming Cowgirl senior center Allyson Fertig was named the Mountain West’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, announced Monday by the league office. It is the fourth player of the week honor of Fertig’s career.
Fertig helped lead the Cowgirls to a 2-1 week down in Puerto Rico at the Discover Puerto Rico San Juan Shootout. Fertig averaged 19.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game on 53.3-percent shooting over the week. Fertig added a pair of blocks and seven assists in the three games as well.
In the opener against Drake, Fertig had 18 points on 9-of-17 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds and recorded a pair of blocks in the victory. Against Norfolk State, Fertig scored 19 and tied a career-high with 21 rebounds against the Spartans to record her third double-double of the season. In the finale against Virginia, Fertig had her fourth 20-point performance of the year as she went for 22 on 8-of-14 from the floor. Fertig, who tied a career-high with four assists in the win, also added eight boards against the Cavaliers.
Fertig and the rest of the Cowgirls return to action December 6 with a trip to Missouri State for a 5:30 p.m., Mountain Time start.
