F.E. Warren airman dies following shooting in Fort Collins, Colorado
CHEYENNE (WNE) — An airman assigned to the 90th Missile Security Forces Squadron at F.E. Warren Air Force Base died Tuesday following an incident in Fort Collins, Colorado, Air Force officials confirmed Wednesday morning.
At approximately 2:22 a.m., officers with the Fort Collins Police Services received a report of a shooting in the 100 block of West Fairway Lane in Fort Collins. They arrived to find the airman deceased and another person in need of transport to a local hospital.
The status of the second person has not been released by law enforcement.
“This is a heartbreaking day for the 90th Missile Wing. Our deepest sympathies go out to the families and friends of those affected,” said Col. Terry Holmes, 90th Missile Wing commander.
Detectives have determined that all involved individuals knew each other, and there is no indication of any ongoing threat to the public, according to detectives in the FCPS Crimes Against Persons Unit who are investigating the incident.
The name of the airman is being withheld until 24 hours after next-of-kin notification, in accordance with Department of Defense policy.

As this is an active investigation, no additional information will be released, police said.
This is the third time this year that an airman from the 90th Missile Wing at F.E. Warren has died following a shooting incident. In the two other incidents, another airman has been charged with the death.
