Ezell Announces Transfer Signing of Payton Muma
Highlands Ranch native comes from Gonzaga
LARAMIE, Wyo. (April 30, 2024) – Wyoming Cowgirl Women’s Basketball Head Coach Heather Ezell has announced the signing of transfer student-athlete, Payton Muma.
Muma, who has spent the previous three seasons at Gonzaga, played in 33 games the last two seasons after redshirting the 2021-22 campaign. In 2022-23, Muma appeared in 30 contests and averaged 1.4 points per game while averaging just under one assist per contest. Muma appeared in three games this season.
A two-time Colorado 5A All-State selection, Muma helped lead Highlands Ranch High School to three consecutive Final Four trips at the state tournament. In her final season at HRHS, Muma averaged 19.2 points, 5.8 assists and 3.6 steals per game. According to Prep Girl Hoops, Muma was the No. 2 ranked player in the state of Colorado in the 2021 recruiting class.
Muma’s parents, Ty and Kara both attended UW, as did her grandfather, Rick Desmarais and her brother, Chad. Ty and Rick both played football for the Cowboys, while Chad was an All-Mountain West linebacker for the Pokes as well.
