ELLEN BOAL

Aug. 7, 1920–July 20, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, Ellen Boal, who passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024, at the age of 103.

She was born in Sundance, Wyoming, on Aug. 7, 1920, to Jenny Faye and Dr. J.F. Clarenbach. Ellen trained as a nurse during World War II.

She met and married LaVerne C Boal in 1944.

Her family said, “Mom was a caring wife, mother, and friend, who exhibited strength, resilience, and support, with large doses of humor. She loved the Upton community, and until her later years, enjoyed participating in many activities including golf and bridge.  She loved working in the yard and keeping up to date on current medical and nursing practices, besides raising a family.”

Ellen is preceded in death by her son, Steven, and husband, LaVerne.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Thorman and Sally Chirinos (Luis), and nephews, Gary (Nancy), Dennis (Mary Jane), Greg (Tresa), and David (Kimm), whom she and LaVerne raised with devotion and care. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Adrian; Nicolas (Lydia) and Christopher; Craig (Melissa), Kara (Jack), and Emily (Jeremy); Kayla, Mitchell, and Kelsey; Kaitlin (Tristan), Hayden (Megan), and Tristan, as well as 10 great-grandchildren: Devon, Jasmine, and Gabryal; Korbin, Marceline, Huxley, and Oliver; Ford, Finley, and Declan.

Per Ellen’s wishes, a family graveside service will be held.
