The elf will visit Newcastle

The Newcastle Area Chamber of Commerce is presenting the Community Elf on a Shelf. This event will take place during business hours for three weeks to help promote shopping at local businesses during the Christmas season.
“How it works is that the Elf on a Shelf will be put up in different stores during the week,” said Andy McKay, chamber director. “As you go shopping at the different stores, if you find the elf, you can enter at that location for a weekly drawing.”
Starting on Monday, Dec. 2, the event goes from Monday through Saturday during business hours until Dec. 21. After the first week, a drawing will be held. After each week’s drawing, the names left will then be thrown out. So to participate in week two or three, you would have to enter again during those weeks. The prizes for the drawings will be $50 for the first week, $100 for the second week, and $150 for the third. The money awarded is in “Chamber Bucks” that you can use as cash in the participating stores.
Participating businesses are CLT Flooring and Furnishings, Frontier Home Ranch & Hardware, Seconds, WC Sports & Western Wear, Flowers & Things, and AD Pro. But be aware, the elf will not be stationary. Instead, it moves around from store to store during the three weeks. So, keep a sharp eye out for our friendly holiday elf, and enter the drawings to win. Your local businesses and the chamber thank you for keeping your holiday shopping local.
