Editor bids farewell
Farewell to the Highlands, farewell to the North,
The birthplace of valor, the country of worth!
Wherever I wander, wherever I rove,
The hills of the Highlands for ever I love.
My heart’s in the Highlands, my heart is not here,
My heart’s in the Highlands a-chasing the deer;
A-chasing the wild deer, and following the roe,
My heart’s in the Highlands wherever I go.
– Robert Burns, “My Heart’s in the Highlands”
The reader will hopefully forgive a dalliance with Robert Burns on our parting. Blame my romantic Scottish ancestry – the Clan Baird.
Your editor bids you a fond farewell. This shall be his last editorial. It has been an honor to write for this paper and for the readers thereof. He thanks especially those who shared kind words of encouragement along the way.
In Cody he intends to remain (for my heart is in the Highlands) and his hope is to remain a force for good hereabouts.
Forever and forever, farewell, Cassius!
If we do meet again, why we shall smile;
If not, why then, this parting was well made.
– Shakespeare, “Julius Caesar”
