DORA JEAN (HARNEY) BILLINGS

Dora “Jean” (Harney) Billings, 87, of Gillette, Wyo., passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2020.
Jean was born Dec. 12, 1932, to Charles and Alfreda (Phoenix) Harney, in Osage, Wyo. She grew up and attended school
in Newcastle.
She married John Ranford East Jr. in August of 1948 in Newcastle, Wyo. They had four children,  Sandra, Ramona, Ranford, and Kenton. 
Jean and John East divorced in 1959. John East passed away from cancer in the V.A. hospital in Durham, N.C., in September 1961.
Jean married Daniel Billings in March 1960. They had two children, Dannie
and David.

Jean and her mother Alfreda owned and operated the Jack and Jill grocery store in Newcastle, for many years. It eventually closed in the late 1960s. In the early 1970s Jean moved to Casper; she later moved to Gillette in the 1980s. Jean’s hobbies included sewing, knitting, and genealogy.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (East) Schmidt and Randy, Ramona East, and Ranford East and Rexanne, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her children, David and Dannie Billings, and Kenton East.
