Dixon Bros. purchases Colorado petroleum company

Dixon Bros., Inc., has announced its acquisition of Wodek Systems, Inc., of Henderson, Colorado, on July 1, 2021. Wodek is a petroleum transport business and is a good fit for Dixon Bros., Inc., according to the Newcastle-based company. 
This will be the second Colorado trucking company Dixon has purchased in the past six years. According to information from the company, the purchase will double its service capabilities in Colorado and the adjoining market, including the Colorado Springs and Fountain, Colorado, areas.
Dixon Bros., which has been in business for 61 years, was started by Jim and Kathryn Dixon, and it has remained a family business for three generations. Their children, Jimmy Dixon and Suzette Miller, who have been with the company for 45 and 44 years, respectively, now operate the business, and Jimmy’s sons, Austin and Joe Dixon, as well as his daughter Annica Quintana, are all involved in the company. Miller’s brother-in-law Dave Foertsch has been working in the Casper terminal for 45 years. 
“We hope to have a long-running business,” Miller said, adding that one day the fourth generation of Dixons will take over. 
When her parents originally started the trucking company, it had just one location in Newcastle. Today, Dixon Bros. has expanded to 12 different locations across Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Colorado, with Newcastle as the corporate headquarters. Miller attributes the company’s success to the hard, steady work of everyone who has worked there. She said that growing the business gradually over time rather than trying to expand rapidly has been beneficial in the long run.  
“It’s been a lot of hard work and dedication of everybody involved in the company,” Miller said. “Every day is a different challenge, but everyone works together really well.”
