Devils Tower to return to 24/7 hours in April

GILLETTE (WNE) — Last Tuesday, the Devils Tower National Monument caused a stir when it announced it was changing its hours of operation, going from being open 24/7 to only being open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
No reason was given for the change, but many assumed it had something to do with the Trump administration’s efforts to downsize the federal government.
But late Friday morning, the national monument provided an update, saying the change in hours was only temporary.
“This change will be in effect only through March 30 after which park hours will return to being open 24 hours a day,” the park’s Facebook post reads.
The post did not indicate what was behind the change, but according to the Devils Tower website, “minor road repairs” is the reason.
“Thank you for all the comments and concerns regarding our recent post about our change in hours,” the park wrote. “We appreciate that so many people around the country and world are paying attention to the phenomenal resources at Devils Tower National Monument.”
Reaction on social media was mixed. While many were happy to see the park return to being open 24 hours a day, a good number weren’t happy with the lack of communication and clarification from the park, with some claiming the original post was a political statement.
